City Talk

1. The womans name was Mrs. Byerly and she worked for the city of eaton rapids.
2. The city added porous parking lots to absorb polluted water before it got to the river and made bigger storm drains.
3. The quality of the river is going to increase greatly. there are so many pollutants on the road that could drain into te river including oil, soap, and animal waste.
4. My group was not responable for a test.
5. I just though it was interesting that the city of eaton rapids was doing so much so help the quality of the river.
6. My biobottle has about 7 plants growing and they are all mostly over 4 inches tall.
7. I am going around the halls once a week and collecting the recycling from the classrooms.
8. I just started and am not very far.

Sewer treatment blog

1.At the sewer treatment plant i learned that when sewage comes into the plant the first thing they do is filter out the big stuff. After that they clean the water and send it out. The sewage is put into a big container with lots of microoganisms that use the sewage as their food source. Finaly they send the water across UV lights that kill the germs. They used to use chlorine but the risk if a spill was too high and too dangerous.

2. Recycling is important for many reasons. One reason is to save the evironment by not taking raw materials from the earth when we can just reuse materials that we already have. I am going to continue to recycle because it is going to save many different types of the environment. Some examples are trees for paper, plastic for bottles, and metals for cars and many other things.

water testing connection

1. Recycling
2. We are going to be going to all of the classrooms in the school and collecting paper and plastic recycling.
3. We are going to put pieces of plastic on the top of the soil to see if it effects the growth of our plants.
4. We werent assigned a river test so we focused on the bugs. one connection between paper recycling and the bugs is that if we recycled in stead of putting our trash in the river there ecosystem would be less effected and more healthy.

Eaton Rapids Water Treatment

1. water is brought into the plant and run through different sized rocks to get out all of the big things. then there is chlorine and fluoride added to the water to kill the chemicals.

2.     there is the main room where the people sit and there is a gauge that shows the amout of water in the towers. If the water gets to low they go into another room and turn on the pumps tp fill the tanks back up.
there is over one million gallons of water in the water towers.
when they clean the water the first thing they do is send it through big tanks filled with different sized rocks to filter out all of the unwanted minerals. then they add chlorine and fluoride to the water to kill the dangerous chemicals in the water. they have a giant pump that pulls water from the wells at a very fast rate. there is over 1.5 million gallons of water in the ground. if the power goes out they have a generator that can power the pump for as long as they need.

Water treatment blog

1. water is filtered with chlorine and flouride.

2. water is carried to the wastewater treatment center where it is filtered and sent back to the rivers

3.  how much water is in the water towers?

how do you take the minerals out of the water?
